The Projects:

Pilot Mountain Project

The Pilot Mountain project is an advanced exploration and mineral resource definition stage project located in Mineral County in western Nevada. The project covers an area of 14.80 km2 (3,656.1 acres) and is located 200km southeast of Reno and 18km east of Mina, Nevada. It is well situated for the supply of power, water and skilled labour and proximity to transport infrastructure in Mineral County and is centred around four existing mineral deposits: Garnet; Good Hope; Gunmetal and Desert Scheelite, all of which possess significant skarn-style tungsten-copper-silver-zinc mineralisation. The Pilot Mountain project consists of 176 active lode mining claims and 4 filed mill site claims. The four mill site claims filed at the former Dunham mill site have secure access to groundwater supply sufficient for the proposed project.

Kibby Basin Lithium Project

The Kibby Basin Project covers two claim packages which are prospective for lithium brine mineralisation. The southern claim package is less than 250m from a 2022 drillhole which returned a significant interval (169m) of lithium brine mineralisation which was determined to be open in all directions. The Project is less than 5km to the southeast of the Company’s flagship Pilot Mountain Project.

Golconda Summit Project

Golden Metal is the operator of the Golconda Summit project, which is held under an earn-in right to acquire up to 100 per cent. of the project from the mineral claim owner pursuant to an option agreement. The Golconda Summit project is an exploration stage gold and silver project located in Humboldt County and situated at the confluence of the Getchell and Battle Mountain – Eureka metallogenic trends, and consists of 44 lode mining claims, covering a total area of approximately 3.22 km2 (795.4 acres) located approximately 27km east of Winnemucca.

Garfield Project

The Garfield project is an early exploration stage copper, gold and silver property consisting of 39 lode mining claims covering 3.23 km2 (797.9 acres) located in Mineral County, Nevada, approximately 14km due east of the town of Hawthorne and 120km due west-northwest of Tonopah.

Stonewall Project

The Stonewall project is an exploration stage gold-silver property prospective for epithermal gold-silver mineralisation. The property consists of 19 lode mining claims covering 1.59 km2 (392.5 acres) located on the northern flank of Stonewall Mountain, on the western edge of the Nellis Airforce Range Restricted Access Area, in Nye County, Nevada, approximately 24km south-east of the historic gold mining town of Goldfield and 60km due south of Tonopah.

Golden Metal Resources #GMET – Tungsten Focused MoU and Key Appointment

Golden Metal Resources plc (LON:GMET), a mineral exploration company focused on tungsten, lithium, gold, copper and silver within Nevada, USA, announces updates which relate to its 100% owned flagship Pilot Mountain Project (“Pilot Mountain” or the “Project”) located within the prolific Walker Lane Mineral Belt in Nevada, USA.

Memorandum of Understanding – Tungsten Critical Metal Pathway:

–      The Company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Oxford Sigma Limited (“Oxford Sigma”), a nuclear fusion technology company based in Oxfordshire, UK.

–      As 100% owner of what is believed by the Company to be the largest undeveloped tungsten deposit in the USA, the Company has entered into a non-binding  MOU with Oxford Sigma which outlines how the two parties will collaborate to explore and develop critical metal supply pathways for tungsten alloy and tungsten containing materials within the fusion industry.

–      Fusion energy has the potential to be a near-limitless source of carbon-free energy for the future in which tungsten will likely be a key metal as it is a requirement for radiation shielding and plasma-facing materials.

–      Over US$6.2billion (as of 2023) of private investments have been made worldwide, targeting the fusion industry as its development towards commercialisation continues at pace. However, without the development of suitable and politically friendly tungsten supply pathways, this important technology may face significant delays.

Pilot Mountain Technical Key Appointment:

–      The Company has engaged Allan V. Moran, a highly respected modelling geologist with extensive previous working experience in the state of Nevada and western United States.

–      Mr. Moran has been engaged specifically to model existing tungsten-copper-silver-zinc mineralisation found at the Company’s 100%-owned Pilot Mountain Project – with a specific focus on the Desert Scheelite Zone where the majority of the in-ground resource at Pilot Mountain is found.

–      The goal of Mr. Moran’s work is to plan resource infill as well as step out (down-dip and along strike) drilling in advance of future exploration on the Project and with a specific focus on drill density required to complete future economic studies over the Project (e.g. PEA/PFS).

–      In tandem, further analysis and drill planning is also in progress relating to the five new priority exploration targets as announced  by the Company on 20 July 2023.1

Oliver Friesen, CEO of Golden Metal, commented:

“We are delighted to be working with  Dr. Thomas Davis and the Oxford Sigma team who are highly respected in the fusion energy industry within the United Kingdom and abroad. It is likely that large amounts of tungsten  will be required within the fusion energy industry and in conjunction with Oxford Sigma we intend to work collaboratively in order to develop critical metal supply pathways between friendly countries in order to help meet the future tungsten requirements within this extremely important developing technology.

“This MOU with Oxford Sigma in combination with the LOI off-take agreement recently signed with Global Tungsten & Powders signifies not only how critical our Pilot Mountain Project is, but more importantly, how imperative the establishment of a western world supply chain for tungsten is given the current global political landscape.

“While the above commercial milestones continue to make headlines, our work with Mr. Allan Moran will continue in the background and the analysis being undertaken represents a very important one as we look to continue pushing exploration and development forward across the four deposit areas at Pilot Mountain.”

Dr Thomas Davis, CTO of Oxford Sigma, commented:

“Commercial fusion power stations are on the path to become the ultimate terrestrial energy source. We are excited to partner with Golden Metal Resources Plc to connect the fusion community with the strategic raw tungsten supply necessary to make fusion work. Most of the approaches to fusion that Oxford Sigma is supporting depend on large quantities (hundreds of tonnes) of raw tungsten for various applications (radiation shielding and plasma-facing components). By collaborating with Golden Metal Resources, Oxford Sigma is on the path to establishing a sustainable tungsten supply for the world’s growing fusion industry.”

About Oxford Sigma

Oxford Sigma tackles energy security and climate change by accelerating the commercialisation of fusion energy. Oxford Sigma’s mission is to deliver materials technology, materials solutions, and fusion design services in order to accelerate the commercialisation of fusion energy. GreenX Metals – Option Over Potentially Large-Scale Gold Prospect

GREENX ACQUIRES OPTION OVER POTENTIALLY LARGE-SCALE, SHALLOW BULK TONNAGE GOLD PROSPECT

GreenX Metals Limited (GreenX or the Company) is pleased to announce that it has entered into an Option Agreement (Agreement) with Greenfields Exploration Limited (GEX) to acquire up to 100% of the Eleonore North gold project (Eleonore North or the Project) in eastern Greenland.

·   Eleonore North has the potential to host a “reduced intrusion-related gold system” (RIRGS), analogous to large bulk-tonnage deposit types found in Canada including Donlin Creek, Fort Knox and Dublin Gulch.

·      Gold mineralisation documented at the high-priority Noa Pluton prospect within Eleonore North.

Geophysical “bullseye” anomaly 6 km wide co-incident with elevated gold mineralisation from historical geochemical sampling.

Anomalous gold mineralisation associated with quartz veining exposed at surface over a length of up to 15 km.

Historical sampling includes 4 m chip sample grading 1.93 g/t Au and 1.9% Sb (refer to Appendix 1).

·     Eleonore North has potential to host large scale, shallow, bulk tonnage gold deposits. The Project remains underexplored, with the existence of a possible RIRGS being a relatively new geological interpretation based on the historical data. Initial field work consists of a seismic survey to determine the depth from surface to the Noa Pluton to aid in drill targeting.

·     Eleonore North license area contains other gold targets as well as copper, antimony and tungsten prospects. At Holmesø there is copper and antimony mineralisation outcropping at surface. Historical mapping and sampling in the 1970s at Holmesø show a prospective horizon between 15 m and 20 m thick, with per cent level grades for both metals.

·     Option to earn 100% of the Project vests upon GreenX spending A$600,000 on exploration on the Project within 12 months and can be exercised in return for a 1.5% Net Smelter Royalty plus A$250,000 payable in cash and A$250,000 payable in either cash or GreenX shares at GreenX’s election.

·     Transaction provides GreenX with gold exposure in Greenland and complements GreenX’s existing exploration prospect in Greenland, the Arctic Rift Copper project (ARC). There are significant synergies with regards to personnel, logistics and equipment in having multiple exploration projects in Greenland. Field works for the 2023 have already commenced at Eleonore North, with follow-on exploration field activities for the ARC project currently being planned.

·    Greenland is a mining friendly jurisdiction with strong Government support for expanding its mining industry, simple laws and regulations, and a competitive fiscal regime.

Mr Stoikovich, Chief Executive Officer of GreenX said: “The Eleonore North project diversifies GreenX with an exposure to gold and the bulk-tonnage target fits with the Company’s strategy of pursuing globally significant discoveries. Its location allows us to unlock significant operational synergies in future field seasons with our ARC copper project in northern Greenland in conjunction with our JV partner and project manager Greenfields Exploration. We believe the mineral potential of Greenland is enormous, and we are progressively working on unlocking this potential.”

Classification: 2.2 Inside Information

ELEONORE NORTH SUMMARY

The Eleonore North Project comprises of two Exploration Licences covering an area of 1,221 km2 in an arid part of north-eastern Greenland, approximately 1,000 km south of the Company’s ARC project.

The Project comprises two licences, located on Ymer Island in the south and the Strindberg Land peninsula in the north. The 300 m deep fjords in this area are around 6 km wide, sailed annually by large container ships, and aircraft frequent the area.  The Company identifies no significant environmental, archaeological, or social challenges in the area.

Analogous to Canadian Bulk Tonnage Gold Deposits

Eleonore North has all the hallmarks of a “reduced intrusion-related gold system” (RIRGS).  This type of bulk-tonnage deposit is found in Canada, including the ~45 Moz Au Donlin Creek, 13 Moz Au Fort Knox, and 6.4 Moz Dublin Gulch).

RIRGS deposits are often associated with tin-tungsten provinces.  The gold may express in various environments ranging from within an intrusion, a skarn, an overlying alteration halo (‘hornfels’), and distal veins.

The most advanced prospect within the Project is the Noa Pluton, where extensive gold mineralisation is well documented and coincident with a geophysical anomaly. The Noa Pluton is obvious in magnetic data and is at the centre of a multi-element ‘bullseye’, which is consistent with the deposit type. While gold is the primary motivator, the mineral system includes standalone deposits of the critical metals antimony and tungsten.  This project is more advanced than the Company’s existing portfolio.

GEOLOGY

Eleonore North covers a sedimentary basin1 that is intruded by granite and intermediate plutons of multiple ages (refer to Appendix 2). The plutons of interest intruded shortly after a mountain-building event2, releasing the compressive forces allowing deeply sourced, gold-bearing fluids to rise to the surface3. There is strong evidence for the occurrence of a RIRGS process.  The first clue to the potential presence of a gold deposit is the presence of tungsten and antimony-tungsten deposits. These deposits often form a circular and predictable zone around gold anomalism. This metal zonation is consistent with RIRGS, as these deposits are often found in established tin or tungsten provinces. At Eleonore North, tungsten deposits are located up to 20 km away, which gives an indication to the intensity of the mineralising event.

NOA PLUTON

A circular magnetic feature is at the centre of the regional geochemical zonation.

This geophysical signature is interpreted to be the alteration halo/hornfels of a pluton (the Noa Pluton). The geophysical anomaly has a diameter of 6 km and is likely to closely approximate the hornfels.  Based on the magnetic data, the top of the intrusion is interpreted to be around 200 m to 300 m below the surface.  The gold mineralisation may extend from surface into the intrusion, giving a substantial vertical target area to the 28 km2 aerial extent.

Geochemical anomalism is coincident with a circular geophysical anomaly. A gold vein is exposed at the surface, and the associated anomalism has a strike extent of at least 10 km and possibly up to 15 km. As there is little in the way of a weathering profile, the anomalism is thought to represent in situ mineralisation.

This Noa Valley vein varies in width from 5 to 25m and is associated with economically attractive levels of antimony4.  Based on limited sampling undertaken in 1983 and 1992, the best results are:

·     40 m chip line with a length weighed average of 0.78 g/t Au and 0.01% Sb, including 15m with a grade of 1.62 g/t Au and 0.02% Sb (Chip Profile 15);

·     35 m chip line with a grade of 0.39 g/t Au and 0.01% Sb, within which there is 15m grading 0.71 g/t Au and 0.27% Sb;

·      4 m chip sample grading 1.93 g/t Au and 1.9% Sb (profile CP-D); and

·      14 m long chip sample grading 7.2% Sb and 0.53 g/t Au (Profile CP-C) refer to Appendix 1 and 2).

At least one other vein is in the valley floor, and others are likely. While these veins are interesting, they represent evidence towards targeting a much larger prospect, the Noa Pluton.

As the exposed mineralisation has an arsenic-antimony-gold affinity and there are lead-zinc veins in the area, the Company interprets that the exposed mineralisation is just above the inner hornfels5 zone. The position in the outer hornfels means the gold content is likely to increase towards the Noa Pluton.

HOLMESØ

Some 50 km to the north-northwest of Noa Pluton is a strong geochemical anomaly at a location known as Holmesø.  At this prospect, significant antimony-and copper outcrops at the surface.  Historical mapping and sampling in the 1970s at Holmesø show a prospective horizon between 15 m and 20 m thick, with per cent level grades6 for both metals.

The well-exposed mineralisation at Holmesø shares similarities with an anomaly on the north side of Noa Valley, some 5 km from the Noa Pluton. Consequently, Holmesø is interpreted as being caused by a second RIRGS-intrusion, whereby the antimony incorporates the sedimentary7 copper found in the region.  While the grades and thickness of the Holmesø mineralisation are attractive and the prospect is drill ready (refer to Appendix 1 and 2), the Company aims to prioritise locating the source RIRGS pluton.

PATH FORWARD

The primary target in Eleonore North is the Noa Pluton, followed by the Holmesø prospect and its source intrusion.  The Noa Veins provide a near-term drill target, however, the Company plans to determine the depth of the intrusion with greater precision using a passive seismic survey. This information will validate the magnetic interpretation, provide more certainty for a future drilling program, and help identify the size of the intrusion within the well-defined hornfels.

SUMMARY OF TERMS

GreenX will acquire a 100% interest in the Eleonore North project through the Option Agreement. Key terms of the Agreement are as follows:

·      The option to acquire the Project vests once GreenX has spent A$600,000 on an agreed work exploration program for the Project within 12 months;

·      Once the option has vested, GreenX can secure the Project on or before 30 June 2024 in return for:

a 1.5% Net Smelter Royalty (NSR); plus

a payment of A$250,000 in cash; plus

a further payment of A$250,000 in cash or shares (with a floor price of A$0.30) in GreenX, at the Company’s election.

GEX will act as the project manager until 30 June 2024, with the option, under certain circumstances, to act as the project manager thereafter.

The Agreement provides GreenX with a low-cost entry point into gold exploration in Greenland, given the synergies of established team, infrastructure and equipment in Greenland for the ARC project.  Eleonore North remains underexplored, and the existence of a possible Intrusion Related Gold system is a relatively new geological interpretation based on the historic data.

Greenland is a mining friendly jurisdiction with strong Government support for expanding its mining industry, simple laws and regulations, and a competitive fiscal regime. The country is increasingly recognised as one of the last great mineral resource frontiers having recently attracted interest from Anglo American, Glencore, Trafigura, as well as KoBold Metals which is exploring for materials critical for the electric vehicle and renewable energy revolutions.

Golden Metal Resources #GMET – US Funding Strategy

Golden Metal Resources plc (LON:GMET), a mineral exploration company focused on tungsten, gold, copper and silver within Nevada, USA, announces the Company’s strategy relating to funding opportunities that are available through the US Government.  The Company intends to pursue this strategy with a particular focus on seeking non-dilutive government supported grant funding for its flagship 100% owned Pilot Mountain Project (“Pilot Mountain” or the “Project”).

Highlights:

–      The Company considers that Pilot Mountain hosts the largest known undeveloped tungsten resource in the US.

–      The US is currently without any domestic primary tungsten production with their largest import partner for the critical defense metal being China. Beginning January 2026, the US Department of Defense (DOD) is banning the use of mined tungsten from China, Russia, North Korea and Iran in defence procurement.1

–      Golden Metal recently signed a tungsten concentrate off-take letter of intent with Global Tungsten & Powders LLC, a leading United States supplier of tungsten powders and semi-finished parts.

–      As a result of the above, the Company believes it is in a strong position to seek out non-dilutive grant funding. If Golden Metal were to receive such funds, it would enable exploration and development at Pilot Mountain to be accelerated.

–      Golden Metal is actively working with Mrs. Chang Turkmani, who on 5 June 2023 was officially engaged as Strategic United States Government Advisor, on how to shape its general strategy as it relates to further increasing the profile of Golden Metal Resources and Pilot Mountain within the US and abroad.2

Next Steps:

–      Golden Metal has commenced the application process for a short list of relevant grant programmes identified by the Company’s management team, alongside Mrs. Turkmani, from the available Company-eligible funding opportunities.

–      Some grants targeted by the Company are applied for by way of an unsolicited application process, meaning Golden Metal can neither disclose which grants have or will be applied for nor the expected timing of an award.

–      Securing non-dilutive financial support for Pilot Mountain remains a priority of the Company, and all endeavours are being made in this respect to give Golden Metal the best chance of achieving this goal.

–      As soon as it is possible to do so, Golden Metal will provide the market with updates as it relates to progress made towards securing non-dilutive grant funding, which would allow the Company to fast-track exploration and development at its flagship Pilot Mountain Project – with the ultimate goal of establishing Pilot Mountain as the only domestic US primary mined source of tungsten.

Oliver Friesen, CEO of Golden Metal, commented:

“While at this time we cannot disclose many details about our strategy as it relates to government funding opportunities, the recent appointment of Mrs. Turkmani should clearly signify to the market the endeavours we are making on this front.

“The time for the United States to reduce its reliance on other countries for their imports of critical and defence metals is now, and we at Golden Metal strongly believe that as 100% owners of what we consider is the largest undeveloped tungsten deposit located on US soil, we can be a part of this urgent process.

“Targeting non-dilutive funding is a critical focus of the Company. However, minimal updates will be given for the time being, as such disclosure may interfere with our ongoing endeavours in this regard. However, it is important for our investors to know that, while this key part of the business ticks away in the background, we will continue pushing forward exploration and development across the portfolio at pace.”

Top Countries for Tungsten Production – France to feature again? – Apollo Minerals (ASX:AON)

Top Countries for Tungsten Production

(Tungsten Investing News article first published by Amanda Kay on April 24th, 2018)

What countries account for the most tungsten production? China took the top spot last year, and eight other countries also put out significant amounts.Tungsten, also known as wolfram, has many uses. It is commonly used to produce electrical wires, heating and electrical contacts.

But it is also used in welding, heavy metal alloys, heat sinks, turbine blades and as a substitute for lead in bullets.

According to the most recent US Geological Survey report on the metal, world tungsten production came in at 95,000 MT in 2017, up from 2016’s 88,100 MT.

This increase came despite reduced output from Mongolia, Rwanda and Spain. A large boost in production came from the UK, where production increased around 50 percent.

The price of tungsten started to rise at the beginning of 2017, and has been booming since then. The bump in prices has been attributed to supply constraints, especially in China.

Tungsten’s importance in industrial applications, from smartphones to car batteries, means that demand won’t disappear anytime soon. With that in mind, it’s worth being aware of which countries produce the most tungsten.

Given its unique and valuable properties, the European Union ranked tungsten as one of Europe’s most critical raw materials, with the highest supply risk of all materials on the list.

Before we look at them in more detail, it is worth noting that France could re-enter the list of top producing nations in the next few years.

The Couflens Project is located in the Pyrenees region in Southern France, and comprises a 42km2license area. Owned and operated by ASX listed Apollo Minerals (ASX: AON), the area includes Salau, previously one of the world’s highest-grade historical tungsten mines, which in the 1970s and 80s produced approximately 930,000 tonnes at 1.5% tungsten for around 11,500 tonnes of high grade tungsten concentrate during its 15 years of operation.

If Salau reopened and produced that level of tungsten today, it would not only immediately put France onto the table as a top tungsten producer, but it would propel the nation to the forefront as a producer of some of the world’s highest grade tungsten, offering end users security of supply from its location in the heart of the European Union

Here’s a brief overview of the nations that produced the most of the metal last year.

  1. China

Mine production: 79,000 MT

China produced more tungsten in 2017 than it did in 2016, and was still the world’s largest producer of the metal by an incredibly wide margin. In total, it put out 79,000 MT of tungsten last year, up from 72,000 MT the year before. China has limited the quantity of tungsten-mining and export licenses it awards, and has imposed quotas on concentrate production. The country has also recently increased environmental inspections. Nonetheless, the Asian nation still came out on top.

In addition to being the world’s largest tungsten producer, China is also the world’s top consumer of the metal. China was also the main source of tungsten imported into the US in 2017.

  1. Vietnam

Mine production: 7,200 MT

Unlike China, Vietnam experienced another jump in tungsten production in 2017. It put out 7,200 MT of the metal compared to 6,500 MT the previous year. Privately owned Masan Resources runs the Vietnam-based Nui Phao mine, which it says is the largest tungsten-producing mine outside China. It is also one of the lowest-cost producers of tungsten in the world.

  1. Russia

Mine production: 3,100 MT

Russia’s tungsten production was flat from 2016 to 2017, coming in at 3,100 MT both years. This plateau came in spite of President Vladimir Putin’s order that production resume at the Tyrnyauz tungsten-molybdenum field. Putin would like to see a large-scale mining and processing complex established.

Wolfram Company is the country’s largest producer of tungsten products, according to its website, and the company claims that each year it produces up to 1,000 tons of metal tungsten powder, plus up to 6,000 tons of tungsten oxide and up to 800 tons of tungsten carbide.

  1. Bolivia

Mine production: 1,100 MT

Bolivia tied with the UK for tungsten production in 2017. Despite moves to promote the tungsten industry in the country, Bolivia’s output remained flat at 1,100 MT.

Bolivia’s mining industry is heavily influenced by Comibol, the country’s state-owned mining umbrella company. The company reported a profit of $53.6 million for the 2017 fiscal year.

  1. United Kingdom

Mine production: 1,100 MT

The UK saw a huge leap in tungsten production in 2017, with output rising to 1,100 MT compared to 736 MT the year before. Wolf Minerals (ASX:WLF, LSE:WLFE) is likely largely responsible for the increase; in the fall of 2015, the company opened the Hemerdon tungsten mine in Devon. As per its 2017 annual report, the company mined 2,266,958 tons of ore and produced 112,270 MTU of tungsten in the year.

According to the BBC, Hemerdon was the first tungsten mine to open in Britain in over 40 years.

  1. Austria

Mine production: 950 MT

Austria produced 950 MT of tungsten in 2017 compared to 954 MT the previous year. Much of that production can be attributed to the Mittersill mine, which is located in Salzburg and hosts the largest tungsten deposit in Europe. The mine is owned by Sandvik (STO:SAND).

  1. Portugal

Mine production: 680 MT

Portugal is one of the few countries on this list that saw an increase in tungsten production in 2017. It put out 680 MT of the metal, up from 549 MT the previous year.

The Panasqueira mine is Portugal’s largest tungsten-producing mine. The past-producing Borralha mine, once the second-largest tungsten mine in Portugal, is currently owned by Blackheath Resources (TSXV:BHR). Avrupa Minerals (TSXV:AVU) is another smaller company with a tungsten project in Portugal.

  1. Rwanda

Mine production: 650 MT

Tungsten is one of the most common conflict minerals in the world, meaning that at least some of it is produced in conflict zones and sold to perpetuate fighting. While Rwanda has promoted itself as a source of conflict-free minerals, concerns remain about tungsten output from the country. Fairphone, a company that promotes “fairer electronics,” is supporting conflict-free tungsten production in Rwanda.

Rwanda produced just 650 MT of tungsten in 2017, down a fair bit from 820 MT in 2016.

  1. Spain

Mine production: 570 MT

Spain’s tungsten production dropped in 2017, coming in at 570 MT. That’s down from 650 MT the previous year.

There are a number of companies engaged in the exploration, development and mining of tungsten assets in Spain. Examples include Almonty Industries (TSXV:AII), Ormonde Mining (LSE:ORM), aforementioned Apollo Minerals (ASX:AON) and W Resources (LSE:WRES).
