Die Welt – “Greece has the two most successful politicians in Europe”
Die Welt is the last place one would expect to find praise for Tsipras and Varoufakis, Greece’s two leading politicians whom the ECB, Eurozone leaders and even the EU have been reduced to describing as amateurs and dangerous left wing fanatics. But the leading German newspaper has recognised and now openly admitted that the deadly duo have completely and repeatedly out manouvered Europe’s established political and beauraucratic elite.
In an article which must be devastating for Merkel, Hollande et al , Die Welt comments;
“The posturing foot dragging and sheer brinksmanship that the Greek government has displayed, may not be the work of hotheads but two very level headed men who may well be two of Europe’s most level headed politicians.
They are soberly observing the fear that is eroding German souls and drawing their conclusions. What we have been continuously reading in recent months, that Tsipras and Varoufakis have been pushed in a corner is wrong. Right now they are most probably the most successful politicians in Europe.”
That doesn’t say much for the powers that be in Brussels and Berlin but to see the German media saying so, is fairly earth shattering.
