ECR Minerals #ECR – Latest Results from Soil Sampling at the Creswick Project, Victoria, Australia

ECR Minerals plc (LON: ECR), the exploration and development company focused on gold in Australia, is pleased to announce the latest soil sampling results from the Creswick Project, Victoria, Australia.

ECR Minerals plc has 100% ownership of the Creswick Project which includes exploration tenements EL006907, EL006713 and EL006184. All licences reside north to north-east of the City of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The Company is exploring a number of parallel-gold mineralisation trends that are believed to extend 10km NE from the Nerrina Goldfields at Ballarat.

ECR CEO Andrew Haythorpe commented: As the MIDAS drill rig team continues the campaign across our Creswick tenements, the soil sampling results in today continue to build a picture of mineralisation in the area – improving resolution of potential new drill targets for the future. The Board and geo teams are pleased to see that the regional historical precedents from the Ballarat East Mine and the spatial relationship between arsenic and gold are very much in evidence with ECR’s own results at Creswick.”

I look forward to reporting back with the remainder of the sampling results, along with the first results from the diamond drilling campaign.”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Gold Results from initial 297 soil samples from Mills Reef Prospect received. Highest result includes 0.68 ppm Au.

INITIAL SOILS RESULTS FOR MILLS REEF AREA

On March 3 2023, ECR announced the commencement of soil sampling campaigns over the Mills Reef area (see RNS here). Located approximately 6km south of ECR’s wholly owned Brewery Lane property, Mills Reef lies along the proposed line of the DMS and associated gold lodes contained therein. Results for the first 297 soil samples have been received from a total of 685 samples taken across the postulated strike of three gold lodes. The samples revealed a best reading of 685 ppb Au, along with a raft of additional elevated gold values between 25 and 75 ppb (see Figure Two above). All samples are additionally analysed for potential pathfinder elements such as arsenic using an in-house portable x-ray fluorescent gun (pXRF).

RELATIONSHIP OF GOLD TO ARSENIC VALUES IN SOIL

Across the countless previous exploration campaigns undertaken across the Victoria Gold Fields, it is generally accepted that arsenic values are closely related spatially to gold-bearing structures. Previous studies of the nearby Ballarat East Mine showed that arsenic increases in values within approximately 50 metres of  the surrounding wall rock to gold bearing structures, (refer to Geoscience World article for context here). Gold and arsenic results from ECR’s soil geochemistry to date is supportive of this theory and the Board believes that arsenic values in soils above 10 ppm are to be considered anomalous and worthy of follow-up analysis at the laboratory for any coincidental gold content. Taking into account the spatial relationship between gold and arsenic on two prospects at Creswick, Mills Reef (Figure Two above) and Davey Road (Figure Three above), the Board are of the view that the close relationship of gold to arsenic can be used to identify which samples should be sent to the laboratory for gold analysis, thereby reducing operating costs.

NEW PROSPECTS EL006713

Work also continued at other regional prospects within the EL006713 tenement, with soil sampling now complete for Bush Inn Road, Kuboid Hill and Blue Gum prospects. pXRF analytical results showing arsenic (As) highlights from these prospects are shown in the figures listed above. Initial As results from the Blue Gum prospect, located approximately 2km south of Brewery Lane, Springmount, highlight potential blind gold shoots along strike of the DMS (see Figure Five above). Results from Bush Inn Road also have highlighted arsenic anomalies that will need further checking for actual gold values, with a major arsenic high identified at the north-east end of the current soil grid (see Figure Six above). Bush Inn Road is located 1.5km to the south of Mills Reef and is also along strike of the DMS.

In addition to the work at the prospects already outlined, initial soil testing and rock chipping of prospects situated on the western side of EL006713 are being investigated. Soil sampling and surface rock chipping has been completed at a prospect known as Kuboid Hill. Rock chips and arsenic soil geochemistry has highlighted elevated gold in the circled area in (see Figure 4b above) with best chips up to 6.23 g/t Au. Another prospect known as Greens Lode is located nearby Kuboid Hill. Greens Lode contains historical works including a shaft and small open cut that has revealed a major quartz lode up to 4 metres wide. Rock chips from dumps and from in-situ veining has shown gold values up to 6.53 g/t Au. The best gold values have been obtained from a quartz system that lies some 10 metres east of the main strike of historical workings (see Figure 4a above). Soil sampling along strike has been completed and analysis of these soils is in progress.

NEXT STEPS

Infill soil sampling work is continuing along the strike areas containing the better soil sample results. Soils that show elevated arsenic have been set aside for further laboratory analysis for gold, and soil sample results (gold) are due shortly for the remaining Mills Reef area and Kuboid Hill prospect. ECR has also completed initial soil sampling on the north end of EL006184 at Quartz Hill where the quartz veins continue to the north.

ECR Minerals #ECR – Insitu Rock Chip Sampling at Creswick Licences EL006184 and EL006713

ECR Minerals plc (LON: ECR), the exploration and development company focused on gold in Australia, is pleased to announce high gold grades from recent in-situ rock chips sited within license EL006184 and newly acquired license EL006713 at the Creswick Project, Victoria, Australia.

ECR CEO Andrew Haythorpe commented: “I am delighted to see these results from rock chip sampling. Along with the retest of the 2021 Creswick drill core (see RNS dated October 19 2022 here) and the parallel gold system identified at Davey Road and South Davey workings (see RNS dated December 22 2022 here), this work continues to support the Directors’ belief that Creswick could host an extended gold system. The Company’s  field team has remained on the ground at the property to continue further sampling”

The Board remain excited by the potential opportunities for discovery across ECR’s asset portfolio, and are eager to push on and undertake further work at the earliest possible opportunity. I look forward to reporting back to you with further updates.”

A complete list of sample results and locations is presented in Appendix 1 at the foot of this document.

BACKGROUND

Through ownership of the property at Brewery Lane, ECR geologists have taken advantage of the historical gold workings on the land, and, using their knowledge and experience from previous work in underground gold mines, have sampled a number of quartz veins within the old works (Sample ID’s CRSR058 to CRSR166A and CRSR390 to 461) and conducted an assessment of the ground conditions. Alongside this, the team have also undertaken preliminary sampling at ECR’s newly acquired tenement EL006713 at a location known as Mills Reef to generate a ‘geological snapshot’ of the area (Sample ID [NCR055 to NCR091]. Rock chips have been taken from exposed in-situ quartz veins where possible to assess possible gold grades within the tenement and correlate geology to grade.

BREWERY LANE

A 120m long adit (tunnel) forms part of the extensive network of historic mining works at the Company’s Brewery Lane property. The Directors understand the adit was originally driven into the hill in the 1800’s to access a mineralised system known as the Spring Hill Reef. This mineralised system parallels the Dimocks Main Shale (DMS), which lies to the west (see Figure 2 above).

Three quartz veins averaging 0.3m wide are accessible from 3 small crosscuts from the main adit. Veins in crosscut 1 and 3 show no gold however, the vein in the crosscut 2 revealed a best result of 0.15m @ 14.11 g/t Au (see Sample IDs CRSR098 to CRSR111 for all results in this area). At the end of the adit, the Spring Hill Reef was worked to the north over a strike of 20m, with veins systematically sampled over the roof and walls. The best results have come from an east dipping vein still present and visible on the wall of the adit. Rock chip samples taken from accessible points within this adit returned 0.7m @ 189.42 g/t Au and 0.4m @ 86.51 g/t. The remainder of this vein is not currently accessible. Results from duplicated samples of interest show a high variability in the results leading the board to conclude that, as with previous anomalous gold results reported from Creswick (see RNS from February 11 2022 here), coarse gold is present.

Rock chips have also been taken from remnant quartz samples on waste dumps along the line of reef workings going south from the adit (see Sample IDs [ ] to [ ]). The best result returned from this work revealed 4.79 g/t Au from a 0.5m wide vein in-situ at the top of a collapsed shaft.

MILLS REEF EAST

Sited within newly acquired Creswick tenement EL006713, the historic mining area known as Mills Reef lies approximately 4km south of Brewery Lane and is believed to lie along strike of the DMS corridor. LIDAR imagery reveals the extent of historic alluvial mining leading north up to a ridge line at the centre of the area (see Figure 3 above). There are 2 accessible locations to some of the historic underground workings. The adit leading west from the gully accesses part of the Mills Reef while a smaller adit has been driven to the east accessing Mills Reef East. Both adits have been sampled, although to date results have only been received for Mills Reef East (see Sample IDs NCR055 to NCR091. The best results from the East adit include 0.25m @ 441.23 g/t Au, 0.15m @ 140.83 g/t Au, 0.25m @ 24.92 g/t Au and other similarly good grades presented in Appendix 1 below. Geologically, the best results come from a series of shallow plunging spur veins that propagate from a fold/fault system. In appearance the historic workings are small scale however, the presence of extremely high gold grades and the possibility considered by the Board that these high grade structures at could be repeated at depth and along strike lend considerable credence to the presence of an extended gold system. It is also worth noting that such gold mineralisation is not untypical for the Central Victorian gold belt.

NEXT STEPS

This collection of high-grade results from remnant gold workings has encouraged the ECR geology team and the Board as to what could potentially await discovery in the ground across ECR’s three Creswick tenements. Soil sampling is already underway at Mills Reef area with further work planned. The priority areas for sampling will be along strike and the projected up-dip of mineralised veins sampled in the adits. The Board expects that this work will provide the necessary data to support a drilling program to follow up on anomalies in due course. With the availability of near immediate drill access to the Brewery Lane property and the location of some of ECR’s successful drill intercepts between 2019 and 2021, the next drill program will follow up on the DMS (Slades Reef) and test the Spring Hill Reef. Drill targets will also be planned and executed at the new tenements to the south of EL006184, including the Mills Reef area, while at the same time, on-ground work including further rock chip sampling and soil geochemistry will continue further south to delineate new drill targets

The Board will report back as these plans progress throughout 2023.

ECR Minerals #ECR – Soil Geochemistry Results from License EL006184

ECR Minerals plc (LON: ECR), the exploration and development company focused on gold in Australia, is pleased to announce updated results from soil sampling and other on-going exploration activities within licence EL006184 at Creswick, Victoria, Australia.

ECR CEO Andrew Haythorpe commented: “The ECR board is now of the opinion that the geochem results from the Davey Road prospect provides ample evidence that Creswick is host to an extended gold system, and that our decision to plan a drilling campaign and complete permit applications is fully justified. This view is further supported by the samples and anecdotal evidence of drill specks in road gutters from the Blue Gum South prospect in our ‘on the ground’ follow up to the 2021 diamond drill campaign.”

As we start to ramp up our activities ahead of the 2023 drilling campaign, I very much look forward to reporting back to you with our full Creswick drill plan, and on our activities across our other assets”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Final results from soil sampling at the newly identified Creswick Davey Road ‘CDY’ prospect have just been received.
  • Results up to 1.59 ppm Au obtained at the Blue Gum South ‘BGS’ prospect.

UPDATED SOIL RESULTS AT DAVEY ROAD

Further results have been received from soil sampling at the recently announced Davey Road Prospect ‘CDY’ (see RNS from December 22 2022 here). Plotting of all the results strongly suggests  that gold mineralisation originates from the North end of a line of historical gold workings, with another strong gold anomaly also present at the southern end of the historic workings. The Board believes these two anomalies represent the outcrop of two possible gold shoots.

GOLD ANOMALISM AT BLUE GUM SOUTH PROSPECT

Soil sampling has also been completed over a small grid area 200 metres to the north of some of the best drill intercepts from 2021’s diamond drilling (see Figure 3 above), where hole CSD003 returned 0.95m @ 9.93 g/t Au from 84.2m and 0.95m @ 23.58 g/t Au from 89.05m down hole. This grid lies within the Dimocks Main Shale trend., and the Company has named this prospect Blue Gum South ‘BGS’ after the access tracks to the area. Gold ‘specks’ can also be obtained from the road gutters within the grid. A small anomalous area of gold has been identified on the east side of the grid area with a maximum result of 1.59 ppm Au. Abundant quartz veining is visible across the hillside immediately above the anomalous area. Rock chips of the exposed part of the vein within the track have shown no gold result to date.

NEXT STEPS

The soil exploration methodology utilised on EL006184 has proved effective in identifying blind outcrops of gold mineralisation. The anomalies identified to date will provide the foundations for a drilling program this year. Permits are being currently drafted for submission to the regional government.

Additionally, the field team have been actively sampling and mapping insitu quartz veins from exposed features accessible within historic adits, pits and trenches within EL006184 and the newly granted tenement EL006713 adjoining to the south. Added to this, the Company is also targeting other potential prospects along the strike of the Dimocks Main Shale trend. The aim of this work is to evaluate veining widths where possible and to provide some guidance in regard to possible gold grades from historical workings. This work will also form a key part of the drill programme planning process. Further details of the planning process will be released in due course. .

ECR Minerals #ECR – New Parallel Gold System Identified at Creswick, Victoria

ECR Minerals plc (LON: ECR), the exploration and development company focused on gold in Australia, is pleased to announce updated soil sampling results from the on-going geochemistry exploration on EL006184 at Creswick, Victoria, Australia. These results highlight a potential new parallel gold system within the Dimocks Main Shale (DMS).

ECR Minerals plc has 100% ownership of the Creswick Project within licence areas EL006184 and EL006907, which resides 14km north-east of the City of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. License EL006907 also links Creswick to the Ballarat East-Nerrina Goldfield. The Company is exploring a number of parallel-gold mineralisation trends that are believed to extend 10km south towards Ballarat.

ECR CEO Andrew Haythorpe commented: “With so much investor interest focussed on Creswick, it is gratifying to see the project move into a new and exciting phase of development. My visit to Creswick with Adam Jones earlier this year and the subsequent success from the re assay of the drill core confirmed to me that our asset has considerable potential to host gold at several locations.”

“Today’s soil geochem results and the subsequent new gold system identified confirm beyond doubt that Creswick is host to a gold system that warrants an extended and detailed exploration campaign”.

“We will continue to employ LIDAR Geochem across our Creswick tenements as we draw up a list of drill targets in 2023. I look forward to reporting back to you very shortly with further progress.”

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Soil geochemistry results identify the presence of anomalous gold in a potential new gold system 500m east of the Dimocks Main Shales.

CRESWICK LIDAR IMAGERY

Recently, LIDAR imagery covering ECR’s Creswick exploration tenements became publicly available. The imagery reveals the surface terrain, which otherwise is hidden underneath thick forest canopy and undergrowth. Additional historical alluvial gold workings along the numerous creek drainages within the tenement have been revealed in creeks 500m to the east of the Dimocks Main Shale trend (DMS), which was recently drilled throughout 2021 (see Figure 1 above for location). Although the primary source of the alluvial gold has not yet been discovered, ECR geologists quickly identified possible locations for a primary gold source on the hillslopes above these alluvial workings. The field team have recently finished soil sampling on these hillslopes and the first announced results are detailed below.

PARALLEL GOLD SYSTEM IDENTIFIED

Two main areas have been identified with anomalous gold, respectively named the Davey Road Workings and the South Davey (see Figure 1 above).

The Davey Road Workings consist of historical trenches and shallow shafts with a strike length of 150 metres. Two worked alluvial gullies lead up to the outcrop from the west (see Figure 2 above). A soil sampling grid was completed over the extent of the workings, aiming to identify gold near the surface through its presence within the surrounding soil. Results to date show gold is present within soils located at the north end of the old gold workings, and these anomalies also coincide with shallow pits and trenches on the land. The historical workings gradually get deeper to the south of the site, potentially indicating a south plunging gold system. Additional duplicate soil samples were taken and panned down by gravity separation to check for visible gold. A number of fine visible gold samples were present within the soils, correlating with the laboratory samples returning gold concentration above 0.11 ppm Au. The extent of the anomaly is highlighted in red in (see Figure 2 above).

The South Davey prospect is located approximately 600m along strike to the south of the Davey Road workings (see Figure 1 above). Historical alluvial workings heading east from Jackass Gully lead up to this area, showing where previous prospectors were searching for the primary gold source without success. Results to date again show gold is present within these soils with the best anomaly located on the north end (see Figure 3 above). Duplicated samples are also showing the presence of visible fine gold within the anomalous area. An example of the fine gold is shown in (see Figure 3 above).

NEXT STEPS

The results to date have proven up our exploration methods using LIDAR imagery and targeted soil geochemistry, and have narrowed down a potential location for the primary source of gold mineralisation. As we prepare a shortlist of drill targets across the best anomalies for a 2023 Creswick drilling campaign, our ‘LIDAR Geochem’ approach will be applied across all of our Creswick tenements in the coming months. ECR now has 10km of strike along what we believe is the most prospective ground towards Ballarat.
